Pirate Spring

This is a simple natural spring that is a hydrocarbonic, slightly mineralised acidulous water containing calcium, magnesium and iron.

It is the most northern spring and naturally emerges up through the ground through the tectonic line running across the Pott Valley. Local people knew of it in much earlier times. There are 8 more outlets stemming from this particular spring. They are located lower, in the south.

The Pott Valley was probably named after the inhabitant of Úšovice Hans Podd (also written Pott), who (probably) tried to mine gold here in about 1528. The rest of the small pots and pit heaps on the hillsides above the valley prove the existence of mining.
